Alright, i just want to get a recommendation on a decent video card. I'm not a hardcore gamer but I play the occasional game here and there. I won't be using it for any hd stuff, but i do a good amount of video editing. So im not lookin for top of the line stuff..just decent performance. I have a 300 watt power supply and ideally, i don't want to have to get another. Any answers or suggestions would be great!

Computer Specs:

Processor
- AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 5000+, Dual Core processor, 2.6 GHz
Video- NVIDIA® GeForce® 6150SE integrated graphics Up to 128 MB of shared memory (piece of crap)
Add-in Card Slots- One PCI Express ×16 (graphics interface)
- One PCI Express ×1
- Two PCI conventional
O/S- Vista Home Premium
and a 300 watt power supply
(I'm not sure if you guys need any other info. let me know if you do)

My budget is about... $150ish. A little over is fine. THANKS!!!

You could go for a GeForce 8600GT but your PSU would have to be changed.

The 7600GT can run on a 300w power supply.

Any particular reason why you are not keen on changing the PSU? Good Brand PSUs are still relatively cheap and not too complicated.

I have a similiar system that has a 300 watt PSU.
And I got a GeForce 8500 it pleased me very much when I got it. It has 512 MB GDDR2 memory and a 600 MHz GPU. I got it for $100 about 3 months ago from newegg.com but now i see it for about $70/$85.

It should work for what you want it for.

Thats what I have.
And if you get that make sure you get a PCI Fan something like this.

I guess I "could" change the PSU. but i didnt wanna spend extra money if i dont have to. What is the price range on those? probably 400 watts would be fine... Is it really worth it?

Just checked out newegg.com, PSU's are a LOT cheaper than I thought.

So the budget for the video card is about $150. And if a PSU is needed, the budget for that is no more than...$60. Any more recommendations including the PSU? Thanks again for all the help guys.

Ok, (sorry for all the stupid questions), I have settled on the XFX- NVIDIA GeForce 8600GT (134.99). I'm not sure but I think it requires a minimum 350W. So, im lookin for a 400W PSU.

Two more questions and i'll leave you guys alone, lol. Are all PSU's the same size and other stuff like that, or do i have to find a certain type that works with my computer. And when i do get a new one, do i have to worry about other components being compatible?

THANKS!!!!!!

Get this $90 after mail in rebate.

And this

Total: $160.

Can't over emphasise the importance of a good psu. Enermax's noisetaker is a s**thot powersupply for the money. Very stable, very efficient.

And we all know how anal I am about psu's don't we.
