Just bought my mum a 2nd hand lcd monitor, was only £35, it's the philips 170B in silver, and at a resolution of 1280x1024, it's really laggy.

The monitor seems alright, could be better but it will suffice, though i'm wondering if it's the onboard graphics that is causing the extra lag when doing simple tasks like moving a window around or simply right-clicking. The old 17" CRT running at 1024x768 ever did this, would it be worth just getting a low-end (i mean really low-end) graphics card, for around £20~ ?

Default Monitor problem / question

It may be worth it .... any card will normally beat on board.
Having said that, double check that the graphics driver is ok ... may be worth uninstalling & reinstalling, if you haven't already.
