Default Monitor Trouble

Randomly when I'm on the computer the monitor screen will go black and says there is no signal for the VGA Input. It then proceeds to go to sleep. I've disconnected and reconnected the monitor cords countless times, but it doesn't seem to help. Once it goes black screen I have to shut down my computer by pressing and holding the power button and then turn it back on. It works fine afterwards but...it happens randomly...and it sometimes happens at the most inconvenient times. Does anyone know what is wrong with my monitor?

Thanks in advance for any help that you give me.

Ermm this might not necessarily be the monitor it could be a graphics card problem, have you maybe checked it is securely inserted into its port as this might be causing the problem, it could also be the graphics card overheating after a certain period of time. Then again it could be the monitor short circuiting im not sure maybe someone else has a better idea

Check the connectors don't have any dirt/dust on them.

Check the pins (if D-sub 9 pin) to see if any are bent.

Reseat the graphics card (basically take it out of the expansion port and plug it back in).

Lastly, try another cable. Either borrow one or purchase one.
