Default Monitors entering powersave mode during use

Hi, I havent had any problems with my computer since I built it back in April. I did have some trouble with a couple viruses the other week but they seemed to have been cleared up.

On two separate occasions today both my monitors - I run duel setup - entered powersave mode when I was in the middle of playing a game.

Does anyone have any ideas to what the problem could be? With no other option, I had to restart the PC. It seems to be fine apart from this. I have a GeForce 8800GT and my PSU is a Corsair HX620W. If any other details are required I can provide my full rig specs, just thought it may have something to do with a power shortage / power surge to the GPU? Or something cutting out with the GPU itself?

Thanks in advance

As it was both monitors it isn't them, could be GFX drivers, faulty GFX card or a power issue I guess.

Has it done it since, is it just that game?

Could be a heat issue with your graphics card, you should download Atitool and run "scan for artifacts" to check to see what kinda temps you get

+1 to drivers. PSU shouldn't be an issue.

When you say "Two separate occasions" does that mean whilst playing 2 different games, or the same game but after a re-boot? Also, which game is it?

Thanks for the response guys. The game is WoW. It happened once in the afternoon so i rebooted and went back to Uni. Then in the evening it happened again. Im not sure the temps could be a factor. I have an antec 900 case and the core temps never really get about 30 degrees. I'll download and run that program anyway just to rule it out.

After I had posted last night I started to wonder if maybe it could be too much load on the GPU? I've been running duel screens for a couple months now and nothing like this has happened, so Im kinda stomped.

OK, a new issue is that sometimes when I turn my PC on the monitor will start up and display the usual boot screen. Then just after the Windows load up screen the monitor will just go black and stay black. It does this without entering powersave mode. Can someone please shed some light on this? It's not a major problem but the comp isnt that old and I want to make sure it's kept in best condition possible.
