9800GTX+ isn't exactly high end. The 4850 is equivalent. Why do you need ATI?

Do you just want the ATI purely because in the past you've chosen nVidia?

That's not a great reason to change over - particularly as you're talking of getting an equivalent card, it's not even an upgrade.

PS love the sig carbon

I am changing to ATi because my mobo is meant for it and only takes crossfire (thats what it says on its site)

so thats why... well i would like something to play all modern games today on ultra high such ass farcry2, gta iv, maybe even crysis if u can do that

i currently have a
Intel core i7
2gb ddr3

So i have a good computere and all, but my vid card is makin a bottle neck u no?

I wouldn't expect to play GTA4 smoothly, its terrible, doesn't work in Crossfire either..

A good video card (HD4870 or HD4870X2) will see you through Crysis and Far Cry 2 pretty easily.

I don't think it could only take crossfire, I could understand say, if it accepted a singular nVidia card, or multiple XFire's, but I don't think theres any motherboard that pointblank refuses to take a single GCard..

Do you have any other spec thats must-have?

ie. HD, or Dual monitor support?

Yeah, nVidia is better high end, and by the time that you want to do Crossfire there will be a single card that beats whatever you bought in Crossfire anyway. Banking on expensive, unreliable multi-card = bad idea. As always, buy for today, not for tomorrow - in which case you may want to expand your budget a bit and get a GTX 260.
