Default Need help picking a monitor. Suggestions guys? :)

DISCLAIMER: By no means do I have the money for purchasing one right now. I am simply picking one out as an "I'll set my sights on this one" type of deal, and then aim for that price. Please do not list the price after the MIR because either way, I still have to front the full price, and therefore it can be misleading.

Well, now that I have that out of the way, I'm looking to eventually purchase a fairly decently sized monitor. I'm looking into a monitor that's approximately 22 inches. You might say I'm going a little overboard, but I already poured my heart and soul into my tower and its contents. So in order to compliment it, I'd like a nice and sheik screen.

I just have a few stipulations, and I'm not sure if all of them are practical, so PLEASE feel free to call me out on them, as I don't want to pursue anything that isn't worth my time.

One of said stipulations is a very low response time. If I'm not mistaken, that simply means how quickly the picture gets relayed to the screen, and through a low response time, it presents a smoother looking stream of images. Please correct me if I'm wrong as I know very little in terms of screens.

Another thing that I'd vastly prefer is that the screen be black, and that the power button be on the front of the screen. In regards to it being black, 99% of my tower and peripherals, including my speaker system, are black. I'd like to have some uniformity to it. And as for the power button and such, I just find it absolutely stupid that you'd put such an important button on the rear of the panel. It will probably annoy me very quickly, and it also leads to the potential of leaving smudges from fingers and hands on the screen. You know...for example, if I let my brother or someone else on here, and they go to turn it on, and rest their thumb and palm on the front as they go to turn it on....

Also I'm a little obsessive in case you haven't noticed hahah...

And most importantly, I don't want to get screwed. I keep seeing 22inch monitors selling for well above $350 bucks just because they have a special stand, or they come with a built in speaker system or something ridiculous like that. I already HAVE speakers, and I don't give two s***s if it can be adjusted up, down, left right, and lets me see it perfectly even if it's on my damn ceiling. I don't need anything special. It's just gotta look nice and work nicely and acquiesce the aforementioned.

Just for further clarification, yes I'll set my sights on the monitor and its price, BUT cheaper is never a bad thing. Also, if the discrepancy is that it's 21 inches, or something smaller or larger, I don't really care if it's just an inch or two. Feel free to post any and all potential candidates, and make a case for it, and as I mentioned earlier, please enlighten me further about monitors and what aspects to look for.

All the research I've been doing has been on newegg.com. It'd be nice to order it from there, but again, if it's a good deal, but it's on another website, it likely won't pose any problem to me.

Hi, I would go with the Samsung 226BW from the egg, as you can see in the picture below it has the button at the front:)
As for response time, the smaller the number the better, all of the pixels on an lcd are little electrodes that take time to change, so if the response time is rubbish when you moved your pointer around the screen you would get a kinda blurry effect following after it know as "ghosting"
You would also notice the ghosting when gaming or possibly watching movies

This is a great monitor and has had loads of great reviews across the board

Its black has a button on the front, good quality and costs less than $350

You cant go wrong with this one

That was in fact the very first one of the ones I was looking at. I love how it looks, and 2 milliseconds is very nice. I'm just a little miffed about the 309.99 price tag. I was told that it's possible to find a nice screen like that for as low as 230. Hence why I somewhat left the 226BW as a secondary option. If it's just not possible to find one just as nice, then it will likely move from secondary to primary.

Be that as it may, I would like to consider all possible options. There must be other monitors out there with similar qualities, and I'd like to shop around first. There was never a doubt that the 226BW was going to be an option, and there still is no doubt. But I'd like to see what you would have picked if you were unable to get this monitor.

i broadened my search horizons a little bit. and i've found that there's an alternative, though I don't know if it's going to be equally as good.

it's the 206BW instead of the 226BW. 2 inches difference, but I don't know enough about the rest of the specs to determine if it's equal or not.

it's a good $40 cheaper though. i guess what i'm asking is....if i end up purchasing this instead, am i going to be wishing i had gone for the bigger one?

there has to be some other distinguishing factor that's shaving off those $40 dollars. so please enlighten me :)

For $40 difference I would just get the bigger one.
