They don't have 4850s for <£120?

8800GT will outperform the 9600gt by a little bit, worth the margin.

Or what about a 9800 GT? They are almost the same as the 8800 GT's but with a few modern add-ons.

4850's and 9800GT's need Vista DX10 to be awesome. If youu are not running vista or not really looking for something expensive 9600GT is the best bang for buck. Personal favorite. Regardless XP or Vista.

Well the 9800 GT has 55nm fab instead of 65nm. And has a slight better edge in overclocking, but there is really nothing big to make it stand out from the 8800 GT, unless you buy factory overclocked versions of the 9800 GT that have 1 GB ram. then you will se a performance boost.

oh right nice one guys!! thanks alot

NVIDIA!! :) never gona leave them.
yeah i was looking around after i posted and saw the 9800GT and was like nooooooo, i could have added that in. LOL :)

btw im running xp home. 19" wide wont to upgrade to 22" wide eventually.. so atm i think im going to go for the 9600GT from OCUK atm. over the 8800GT that i spotted, but which one would run cooler? im a bit of a temperature freek u see. OR can anyone recommend a 9800GT, or would This 1gb version of the 8800GT be my best bet?

Thank you all so much for ur quick and positive feedback! . Love ya all ;)

He's not leaving nVidia Carbon lol. When folks decide to be brand loyal no matter what, it's a waste of breath to suggest another brand which may be much better.
