Default New monitor Questions

Hi,Merry Christmas all
looking for a new monitor,
have about 220.00 to spend
was wondering what would be good?
also, is it better to get a monitor,
or get a hdtv and use that as a monitor, if i connected my pc
to it using a hdtv cable?
thanks
adam

I'm very tempted by a 20" LG with good specs on ebuyer for only 130 notes at the moment, might be worth a look.
