Hey guys,

im building a system and my vid card has 2 dvi outputs. im using a dvi-vga adapter but the monitor is getting no signal. The mobo doesn't have onboard video so Ive got to run it through the card. its a PNY XLR8 9800 GT 1GB.

I don't have windows loaded on the hd yet (obviously...). The card has power and all that jazz. The monitor is one of the basic dell flat panel lcds. and i dont have any monitors with dvi...

Any ideas, Im hurtin...

Heres more detailed specs.

Motherboard: ECS PA1MVP
Power Supply: Thermaltake Purepower 500
RAM: Kingston Valueram 1GB (x2)
Processor:Intel Pentium D 945 Dual core 3.4 Ghz, 800mhz FSB, 2x2 L2 Cache
Cd/Dvd: Tosiba Samsung Dvd burner
Monitor: Microtek C783, Basic Dell Flat Panel

I've tried both monitors and no luck with either.
i got ahold of pny and they told me to talk to ecs about jumper settings on the mobo. but ecs has yet to respond...

Not a monitor fault/issue, the monitor says no display as the PC is not outputting a signal to it.

This could be because the system is not connected fully or a particular part is faulty, likely the PSU or mobo.

Time to strip it down to the bare essentials and see if it works, lose more than 1 stick or ram, the drives and any add on cards.

Purepowers have a tendency to blow up. That would be my suspect, but do try just stripping it down and see what happens.

Pull out a stick of RAM and try again, if that doesn't work, swap them over

ok i tried multiple psus, 3 video cards (pcix and pci) unplugging drives and removing the ram. Either its a jumper or a dead mobo unless anyone has any more ideas.
