Okay, I bought an HP Elite that came with a 9300GE (256mb). I upgraded my card to a GTS 250. A friend of mine recently bought a gateway with Ati HD3200 onboard graphics. We thought he would see a performance increase with a dedicated card. I installed the card and booted up the PC. I disabled/uninstalled drivers on the ATI graphics. I had a EVGA driver disk that came with my card and popped it in to load some Nvidia Drivers. ( he recently moved and doesnt have internet yet). An error comes up saying the hardware is not supported. I was wondering what you guys think the problem would be?

The problem would that ummmmmmm the hardware is not supported.............
J/KI'm not 100% sure, but there should be a setting in his BIOS that you have to toggle to switch from onboard graphics to a card that you install yourself. I know there is for a sound card if you have onboard sound. If I knew what model he had, I could check for you. EDIT: If there is an option to do so, and you uninstalled his drivers without changing the settings, then the message you are getting is reffering to the disabled ATI onboard video.......... |

The onboard is ATI HD3200, I am guessing the card is jsut generic since it is from an HP

Ok, I guess I didn't realize that Elite WAS the "model' of the computer. WHen I go to HP though, I see three different types of "Elite" computers. A conveetable mini tower, an ultra slim, and a small form factor. It looks though that they put the same intel chipset in, the q45, but it doesn't say what motherboard. Download CPUZ (it is a program that will tell you many things about a computer, including what type of CPU and MoBo it has), install and run it. WHen the screen comes up, click where it say mainboards. Post the info from there. About midway down the page, you will see a section called BIOS. Tell me what type, version, and date.

I should have clarified more. I have the HP Elite. I took the card from my computer (the 9300GE) and put it in his gateway computer.

Yeah, you did say that lol. So what make and model of GATEWAY computer does he have? Also, put the cpuZ on his computer. Heck put it on yours too, it's a handy tool to have.

Haha I already have it on there. Same with GPU-Z. I'll get his tower tomorrow and hook it up at my house and get the info on it. He doesn't have internet at his place until next monday.
