Download CPU-z here
Click on mainboard it will tell you what type of motherboard you have and then we will be able to determine what kinda graphics card you need

Well you could open it up and read the mobo make and model off it.

Or you could tell us the brand name and model of the pc you've purchased and we can probably find it.

What size screen monitor do you have? as this will also have a bearing on it.

budget?

I added GPU-Z to the system info part of downloads section. That will tell you which graphics slot you have.
Thats if it works on your machine its still very new but getting updated regularly.

It could matter as older mobo's, some anyway, required either an Nvidia or ATI card.

Besides, stick with Nvidia for DX9 gaming, better bang for your buck.......and lower noise levels........and lower temps.......and less power requirements........

Budget?

Budget is up to £150 but i was hoping to get a graphics card that was reduced to that from alot more.

I cant get the details on the motherboard because i formated my pc with a retail windows xp because my backup dvd is unable to read so i downloaded a retail version of xp same edition home. Well i thought i could just use my old cd key which is the sticker on my pc, but no it wont accept it says invalid key so im stuck for now trying to work it out, when i do ill get the details of the motherboard!
