Default Occasional tiling

After quitting a game, and sometimes while just using FireFox, I'll get tiling - as in, "old" windows's artifacts stay up on the screen, I'll have to mouse over a tab or something in FF to get it to appear, and the system is generally pretty slow. I once had a problem where CoD4 would whine that it was out of video memory, which makes me think that's the issue.

My question is why this is happening. I was under the assumption that the 320MB of VRAM on the G80 8800GTS would be enough, though I'm running dual 1440x900 monitors. I have 2GB of RAM and usually there's no problem in that respect (taskman says I've got plenty free). The card is running at maybe 55C at load.

Any ideas? Should I sell this card for a 8800GT?

I don't boot into Vista nearly as much, so I can't say. I also don't game on it, which is when the majority of this happens.

I'll sometimes just get video errors in general: failure to create D3D device, etc. Restart fixes all of this, and the temperature of the card is well below normal.
