This is almost unnoticeable in sound difference, and it dropped my ati 4870's idle temp from 80C to 49C with a 25% to 35% fan speed increase!

ya theres a different way of doing this it involes opening Calasyst control center making a new profile and doing something or other i herd that about up to 50% is the max before it starts to sound like a jet engine

I tried that method and it wouldn't work for me. It was strange, in my C://Users/(Me) there is no appdata or any other system folders, just the stock documents,music,pictures,etc folders.

mabye the file was hidden? in your my computer or what ever go to tools>folder options>view tab>and click show hidden files and folders

Default Odd but useful tip for GPU cooling.

I just can't get the fan to change on mine. It's an XFX 8600GTS 512MB one - it just won't budge. It's almost like it is fixed at that speed.

Mobo is an MSI P6N SLI V2.

you probaby dont need to worry about the temps on this just the ati 48xx series cause they set the fan speed so low so its not too loud
