you won't get Audio thorough a video card with an HDMI output, just like that. But I think some cards atleast have an audio in or something on them or something that allows you to put audio through the HDMI.

I have no experience with these such cards but as HDMI is a digital audio/video interface I would have thought so but then GFX cards just deal with video.

I think you are expected to have a set of good quality speakers on your PC if you are using HDMI out, as that would mean you don't need audio to go the the TV's relatively poor speakers.

Doing some research it looks like the GFX cards will only carry video over HDMI.

The point in having HDMI is becuase it is better than VGA output, better than DVI and some monitors are now on the market which accept HDMI as do many BIG HD TV's.

Most HD TV's will have HDMI inputs, but barely any of them will have DVI inputs, however they are basicly the same thing, just with different shaped connectors at the end, hence why you can get cables that have DVI at one end, and HDMI at the other without anything special.

It's so you can plug your computer into a big TV to watch movies etc
