ive been reading this on nvidea forum and this sounds pretty much like my case ....
Now it's been totally resolved by updating the drivers to 7.1.8.4 from http://www.laptopvideo2go.com, and checking that the tv accepted s-video input; one of them didn't so I had to use a s-vid/composite adapter to make it show colour. TVtool is no longer necessary but still quite cool.

ive been on that site but can't find that driver, as i also dont reli know what the 7.1.8.4 means, so any help would be cool and maybe my problem sorted out aswell?!?!?!:):)
cheers

It means if you have a Nvidia graphics card goto the Nvidia website and get the latest drivers.

Do you have an Nvidia graphics card?

If you have a Nvidia graphics card you could also try adjusting the settings in Nview.

The Nview software can be found in control panel in Windows.

You do not have a Nvidia graphics card.

Try contacting Sony to find out what you do have and if what you want to do can be done at all.

That's odd.

Nvidia drivers come in a bundle, IE: all drivers for all the models come in one download, so long as you are downloading the ones for your operating system they will auto install.

On that basis it's hard to download the wrong driver and thus if you get the "the nvidia setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. setup will now exit." message, it's normally a sign you do not have the Nvidia hardware.

Are you sure you got the download for your operating systems?

Also did you have a look for the Nview software in your Windows control panel? Because you may not need drivers at all if you can find that.

you shouldn't be able to view the output on laptop monitor if the video output is going to the TV, hence you need to change it using the function key (fn) (down by alt and ctrl) and F4 or whatever Function key has the little monitor looking thing.
sorry I can' t be more specific, I'm currently medicated

haha worked out a way to do it!!!!!!

The V-series Vaio's do not output any sort of video signal at all. The S-Video and Composite Video connections are IN ONLY and i don't have a VGA output.

The only way i can do it is to get a USB to S-Video converter

like this one:)

He could have simply downloaded the incorrect driver for the card fella, this would bring up the message he quoted earlier when trying the install.
