Default Is PCI-e v2 graphics card compatible with old Motherboard

Hey thingie thanks for your help. Doy you know if PCI-e 2, because its newer, will be compatible and do the offloading for HD files? I could strecth to get that card.
I added some dimensions to my jpeg, using Paint so looks very crude, hope this gives a better idea as to what will fit.

Forgot to mention that the width of the removable slots where the graphics card bracket will fit is 10cm.

From the looks of that, that card should be fine, however it doesn't have an HDMI output, so if you want to connect it via HDMI you will need a DVI to HDMI converter (DVI puts out HD video). It's hard to tell, but are there any large components sticking up around the PCI-E x16 slot?

No large components interferring with the slot.

I just ordered the low profile 3450 fom overclockers, i was just thinking when thingie2 said i could fit a dual slot. Would that mean when i recieve my low profile card that the low profile bracket will not fit, where would that leave me then?

Low profile will fit if you can fit a duel slot, Duel slot cards have become the norm mainly because of the heat produced the cards need larger coolers, and therefore take up 2 slots. Single slot (low profile) cards just get a bit hotter as they don't have as good coolers, but a 3450 won't get that hot anyway.

Does the 3450 have a 6pin power connector on it? If it does, do you have a power cable from your power supply connected to it?

There is only a 2 pin connector on the card, and even when i try to boot into safe mode i get BSOD saying the VGA driver failed to initialise (i have tried turning off onboard graphics in device manager but no change, there is no option for vga in bios). I have to completly take out the card for it to boot up.
I have a 300w power supply which i thought might be the problem but the requirements say "300w or greater".
Oh this is complete shit and Overclockers return policy is to charge me £10+shipping if they can find nothing wrong with card.

What PSU do you have? there is a possibility the PSU isn't pumping out enough current to your GPU

Wattage doesn't matter.

New PSU time, I think.

I have tried a 400w PSU and nothing has changed. I need to email overclockers cause this card obviously does not work with my comp and then get screwed out of £15.
