The fact that mobo is not PCI-e 2, does that mean the card will not be able to offload the processing of HD encoded video files?

The more i keep reading about low profile HD cards the more frustrated i am getting, backplate issue. Can anyone recommend a card that will give me 1080p and will fit in my mobo, running XP.

That's interesting, from the looks of that picture, you should be able to fit in a duel slot card. I'll have a look to see what card would do for you.

Do you have a budget for the graphics card? something like this card should work, it's duel slot, but not full duel slot and is quite small. But before you buy it, measure the space you have on your board and check it will fit.

Hey thingie thanks for your help. Doy you know if PCI-e 2, because its newer, will be compatible and do the offloading for HD files? I could strecth to get that card.
I added some dimensions to my jpeg, using Paint so looks very crude, hope this gives a better idea as to what will fit.

Forgot to mention that the width of the removable slots where the graphics card bracket will fit is 10cm.

From the looks of that, that card should be fine, however it doesn't have an HDMI output, so if you want to connect it via HDMI you will need a DVI to HDMI converter (DVI puts out HD video). It's hard to tell, but are there any large components sticking up around the PCI-E x16 slot?

I just ordered the low profile 3450 fom overclockers, i was just thinking when thingie2 said i could fit a dual slot. Would that mean when i recieve my low profile card that the low profile bracket will not fit, where would that leave me then?

Low profile will fit if you can fit a duel slot, Duel slot cards have become the norm mainly because of the heat produced the cards need larger coolers, and therefore take up 2 slots. Single slot (low profile) cards just get a bit hotter as they don't have as good coolers, but a 3450 won't get that hot anyway.
