I bought this video card: http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Visio...l.do#prodspecs
When I installed the drivers it said somthing like it doesnt have a windows xp logo or didnt match the windows xp logo but on the box it says it works for xp. It still installed and I hooked up my 30" monitor to it and I am having problems with the display settings. The video card is supposed to support 2500x1600 resolution (says so on the box) but only goes up to 2560x1024 for 1 monitor output and 2048x1536 for the other on this card. When I set it to 2048x1536 on my 30" monitor it stays that way for a few minutes and then goes to a much lower resolution like 1200x800. Also when I have the setting set to 2048x1536 it doestnt show the whole desktop on my screen, it shows a small amount and then I have to scroll around with my mouse to view the rest fo the desktop. I have all the drivers installed for the monitor and the video card. Is this video card just not compatable with my system or is there something else that could be wrong with it? |

I suggest the card won't be able to provide enough bandwidth to the monitor at it's native resolution. You'd need to hook up two of the same leads (vga or dvi) to provide the bandwidth to a 30" screen at that resolution. You can't hook up a vga AND a dvi because how they refresh is different.

Im confused about what you are saying, are you saying the card doesnt have enough power? In another comp forum a guy said he had the same card with dual 20" screens and had the same problem where the video setting went from the native resolution to a much smaller one so Im guessing this card is just junk and I gotta get a new one.
I was looking at this one. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...&sku=V261-4052 |

No, apologies.
What I'm saying is using one cable the won't be able to refresh the screen fast enough as one cable won't be able to provide enough bandwidth communication simply because of the amount of pixels the screen natively displays. As for the prowess of the card, well, you won't be gaming on recent titles on it using the screen but it will be fine for windows/media

the monitor has 2 cables one is a dvi that connects to the card and one is a USB cable that connents to the usb input in the comp, I assume the usb cord is to help with the extra bandwith?

I figured out something when running my 30" monitor I need to only have IT activated and NOTHING else running off of my card and I was having problems cuz I had my 20" running on the card as well. So either my power supply isnt giving the card enough power (its a 250w and the card needs a 270w) or the card cant support running a 2560x1600 and a 1600x1200 res at the same time. My card is a radeon hd 2400 pro agp.

250W is awful - you need to get a new PSU.
Also, if you're going to be running TWO monitors like that, you're going to need to add their resolutions. You can't just assume it'll work because they're separate.
