Default Replaced card pc will not boot

Had a ATi x800xl agp card that the cooling fan went out on, after replacing the video card with another card, x850xt, upon start up the computer will not boot up , screen says "no connection" then goes to sleep, can not open drive doors, restart switch will not respond, it will shut down after holding in start button and restart, drive door will open and close right after start up but then will freeze. Put old card back in and it will not work now. Everything worked before the new card was installed now it seems to lockup. Did I damage the motherboard or agp slot somehow?

System
Asus P4P800 SE
2gb ram
3.0 cpu
500watt power

Might have fried your mobo there, or by the sounds of the CD drives not working you could have killed your PSU. Try changing that if at all possible, and if not, you're likely to have fubar'ed the mobo. Then if the PSU was dead it probably wouldn't show any signs of life at all would it? Did the x850xt work in another PC before you put it in yours? Could be a dodgy card. Anyway most likely thing is you've broken something on the mobo, but defo try replacing the PSU first.

Thanks for the reply, Yeah, I changed to another power supply but same old thing. If the cpu was bad would the computer start up at all or could it still run but act buggy? Think it is the motherboard, just don't want to chance putting the new card it my other pc to see if that is the problem and have it do the samething, but will have to put new card in a new motherboard also!

M'kay. Right, well it sounds like you'll be needing a new motherboard then? It won't be your CPU because that wouldn't have been the thing that died, and even if it was bust then I think the computer would get to some error screen at least.
