Default Replacement for 7900GT SLI'd Cards

I built a system 2 years ago with 7900GT's SLI'd together. They've both since fizzled. I'd like to upgrade the graphics cards as high as possible without delving into upgrading other components. I know it's an older system, but any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Here's the stats on my comp.
Windows XP
AMD Athlon 64X2 Dual Core
2.21 GHz, 2.00 GB of Corsair RAM
-ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI X16 ATX AMD Motherboard
-(two 16-pipe PCI-E)
Power is 620W so no issue there.

Probably need a card with a fan, as the PC runs a bit warm. Open to SLI again, but would prefer one card.

If you need any more info, let me know. I'm outta the loop on components since I built this, so any advice would be appreciated.

a beter investment will be to get more high speed RAM u really need it alot more then a graphics card, i would NOT go for two mid to high priced sli's just get 1 high priced instead and upgrade to SLI when price of same card goes down, only SLI with mid price atm

Anything you do here is going to be limited by your CPU. There's no way around that. I think it's a waste to put anything more than a single 4850 in there as long as you're not on 1080p+. Recommending a high end graphics card is kind of silly when you have almost everything you need now - you'd need a motherboard at $80, a processor at $80-$130, and some RAM at $50 with $30 or so of rebate to do an overhaul and really that's a better move than trying to get performance out of a 939 machine.
