Aight guys I've had my rig up and running for about two months now and I love it. I've been playing Bioshock on max resolution w/ all the goodies enabled and it looks AMAZING on my 24". I picked up crysis last night for $20 and it wont let me run it anywhere near my monitors 1920X1080 native reslotion and I know the card can do that resolution b/c I run it on bioshock. It says that the resolution isnt supported by my setup. Im running it at the max resolution it will let me and it looks pretty damn good. I had to go even lower during game play b/c there was a slight hint of lag and it annoyed me.......so my question is what is a safe clock speed I could overdrive the gpu and gpu memory too, w/o roasting it? And if I did will it help?

The 4850 is designed for 1680x1050 or below. When you get into 24" monitors the common wisdom is to get something more powerful like a 4870 or GTX 260.

There is no set max for overclocking, you have to find your own. It depends a lot on the rest of the setup and the type of card you get.

Carbon whats goin on? The rig you help me design is great btw. I saw the monitor on Newegg for a while but couldnt afford it. Then they had a $60 instant rebate and free shipping so I picked it up. I wont be touching my card for a while as it does great w/ my blu rays(reason for building rig) and the game does look pretty good as well. I was just wondering if I could make it better. And thanks for the "wisdom" on the card info, I didnt know that.

Yeah, had I known I would have told you to get a 260 :p Overclocking would help, but Crysis is just a demanding, badly optimized game. Glad the rest of it's working out fine.

Yeah I was planning on upgrading my monitor but not this soon. I couldn't let that deal go by. What do you mean by 260?

And over clocking did help the graphics out, but the game would start glitching every now and then, like lagging and pixel discoloration of some sort. I think Im going to have turn some of the detail things off...I think I can live w/ it though.

260 = GTX 260, there's a lot of good deals on them now (I saw one for $199 with a factory overclock).

Select auto overclock in overdrive, once it finds its max, decrease it by 10mhz core and memory
