You need to carry your sound on a separate cable, s-video just takes the image for you.

Default S-Video???help

And it may not be S-Video, i have a laptop with a socket that i could've sworn was a S-Video socket, and after many broken pins and anger, i realised it wasnt.

That will be an s-video picture - especially as it has a TV on it. This can be used for connecting to a TV but audio will need to be carried seperately.

I would still recommend VGA over S-Video though - when linking up to my TV I always get a better picture with VGA; unless your TV doesn't have VGA.

the tv doesnt have a svideo input so went in via vhs player/recorder.

If it doesn't have an S-Vid input then SURELY that's an excuse for a new HDTV if ever there was one

You went over the VCR? I tried that once and it messed up the colours and I have to buy a S-Video to composite adapter, which sucks since S-Video is better than composite.

Are you sure it 'messed' up the colours and it isn't just a setting which needs to be changed back?

I think it may have been the VCR actually... By the time I did it we didn't use the thing anymore.
