Default S-Video???help

hey guys.
with my computers like my laptop. it has an s-video plug on the back with what looks like a pic of a tv above it. my questions is can i plug my laptop to my tv and use my tv for a monitor and for watchin like movies?

sweet thanks. i know a tv does not quite have the resolution but great for movies and goofin around. lol

You need to carry your sound on a separate cable, s-video just takes the image for you.

And it may not be S-Video, i have a laptop with a socket that i could've sworn was a S-Video socket, and after many broken pins and anger, i realised it wasnt.

so why does one get a black and white picture instead of colour

That will be an s-video picture - especially as it has a TV on it. This can be used for connecting to a TV but audio will need to be carried seperately.

I would still recommend VGA over S-Video though - when linking up to my TV I always get a better picture with VGA; unless your TV doesn't have VGA.

the tv doesnt have a svideo input so went in via vhs player/recorder.
i realise sound is separate but that part was easy

If it doesn't have an S-Vid input then SURELY that's an excuse for a new HDTV if ever there was one
