I recently purchased a Samsung 226BW monitor and have it connected to my Dell XPS 1330 laptop. I get a very annoying horizontal screen flicker on the monitor whenever the power cord is connected to the laptop; funny thing is, when the laptop is running on battery only, the screen flicker disappears completely. I have had the laptop back to Dell to have the motherboard (incl. graphics card) replaced, and have had the power bar/cord replaced as well, but still the screen flicker persists. Also, I have noticed that I can reduce the flicker slightly (but not eliminate it), by setting the power management option on the laptop to "power-saver" vs. "performance". I have tried everything from using a surge protector, to plugging the monitor into a completely different power outlet (across the room), but still have the flicker. I am using the VGA (blue) connection, and am also wondering if there is a way to use the DVi (white) connector with this Samsung/Dell XPS 1330 combination.

Has anyone experienced this as well? Any suggestions/comments/help would be most welcome. Thank you !!

Hi, I have the same problem as you do. I just purchased the dell xps 1330 and connected it to my 226bw. The flicker also disappears when the laptop is running on the battery. I was wondering maybe it will go away if we try connecting to the monitor using a hdmi-to-dvi connector? I haven't tried it yet...simply because i don't have the hdmi-to-dvi cable. if you do try it, post the result here. thanks!

Hi there, thanks for your message, I was starting to wonder if I was the ONLY one with this problem !! And yes, the next step is to try the HDMI-DVi connector; I'll be going out to get one in the next couple of days, and will let you know if this solves the problem. I'm pretty sure its not the XPS 1330 since Dell has already replaced the mother-board & the VGA connector, so the only other alternative is a defective monitor (apparently Samsung makes 3 different panels for this model, A S & C, and the C-version is supposedly of somewhat lower quality). If the HDMI connector doesn't solve the screen-flicker issue, I guess we could try to exchange the monitors ....

i doubt it is a defective monitor, as I do not have the problem with other laptops/computers...

but i think the hdmi-to-dvi connector will work, because I read on another forum that someone with a dell xps 1330 and dell external monitor was able to resolve the flickering problem using a hdmi-to-dvi cable, but has the problem using the vga problem.

just use your browser's search function (keyword is "flicker" )

Hi there, you were right .... I hooked the monitor up using HDMI-to-DVi and the screen flicker is gone !!
Thanks for your help, all the best.
