SInce my birthday and christmas are so close together i usually get a conjoined present, i don't mean just one present for both, i usually put the money together and buy something really neat instead of aload of rubbish.
So i was thinking, when te 9800 cards come out i might SLI them, i have around 600 pounds for both my christmas and birthday so 600 pounds to spend on brand new hardware ( 1200 USD ) What do you think? My System: Liam's rig..?

i really wouldnt go sli
like Carbon on here has stated before its going to get to the point where you get like dual cpu cards etc, plus i doubt there'll be many games if any to fully use it i see it as overkill i know im not alone on my dislike for sli, just buy one card mate and a couple of top notch games with the money ![]() or a new psu, depending on what the 9800 will drain

Yeah it really would be quite a waste. The 9800 card doesn't even look all that good and in SLI it would set you back more than £600. If you're gonna go down that road get the geforce 8800 gtx.

i agree also that going sli with 9800 is a total waste of money, save it m8 get a 8800 gt or gtx both will play any games you throw at them without going sli even.

Wait for benchmarks is my suggestion.

I already have an 8800gts 320mb, It's not as good at the top notch GTX's but it can play any game on high so far ( including crysis )
I Guess ill just get one then, my PSU is a 650w CoolerMaster SLI ready PSU, and if i did get SLI i'd need to get an SLI motherboard which i guess would take the most part of my money, the motherboard i have now is a good'un though. I got it support my new 45nm CPU. So i guess ill get one 9800 ultra or the best they come and maybe upgrade some parts, i rarely buy games as i have enough money all year round to pick a few up every week. ( Lucky kid i am xD ) How much do you think the 9800 ultra or GTX be? Im guessing the same price as the 8800 GTX when they were first released. EDIT: WIth the extra money i could get water cooling... ohh shiny. |

Like I said, wait for benchmarks. The very preliminary report is that the 9800 ultra is going to only be about 30-35% better than the 8800 Ultra which is so not worth it.

i would keep with your 8800gts for awhile then if u want to go sli , do it with another 8800gts by then the cards should be nice and cheap, fitting is simple and then you will be able to play the "then latest" games on high, so saving a few bob, there really is no reason to go sli with 9800s yet
