It can be bad as HDTVs are meant to run at lower resolution with larger pixel size, so up close they're no good as monitors.

Regular monitors are cheaper and have higher resolutions.

If you are sitting 5+ feet from your monitor, it may work out fine, otherwise it's probably going to be noticeably horrid quality.

I hooked up our Toshiba laptop to our Samsung hdtv last week, it's fabulous! I agree, you don't want to look at it up close but it's pretty cool to see the comp screen on the 42" tv.

You could turn it the other way and use a monitor as a TV? Higher detail and such seems good, a TV tuner card would let it go through the computer?

im running my PC on my tv now

i bought a simple HD tv and was surprised it had a vga slot so rigged it up and its perfect. just wish it had picture in picture to watch films while i use the computer lol

saves on electric though!
