Alright well for christmas im thinking of getting 2 new monitors, around 19" inch.
With the one im using now that would mean 3 monitors.
If i can't use 3 then i will use two.

But i have a few questions i need answersing, if you can answer some that'll be great.

Is 3 monitors possible with one computer?
If it is possible then what would i need apart from 3 monitors?

If it isn't possible and i can only do 2 monitors then what would i need apart from 2 monitors?

here is my specs:
8800 GTS 320mb
Dual core intel pentium D 2.80ghz
2gb ram

Thanks for helping. Have a good evening!

EDIT: I also wondered if it is possible at all, if i have 2 keyboards and 2 mice and 2 monitors can you split the computer into two? for example my friend playing a game on one screen while i play a seperate game on the other. Thanks!

Hi, I am no expert but I have built a few computers now 15 I think. I'm sure you could run 3 monitors easily. If your GPU supports dual monitors then you can run 2 and by extending the desktop onto the second monitor you can run seperate apps on each monitor 2 games if the CPU and memory and graphics allow it. If you want to you should be able to add a second GPU to run a third maybe even a fourth monitor, i'm sure you can get a PCI graphics card but i could be wrong. The other option is to use a VGA splitter to split one of the signals to run 2 monitors same image on 2 different on the third.

On to your edit post:

I know belkin do a kit to allow you to control 2 computers with one keyboard and mouse but I can't say i've seen it the other way around so 2 games may be a problem but i'm sure someone else will be able to elaborate if you can.

Would you recommend a really nice big one? Or 2 normal ones.

Surely the game would run slow as you would be halving your potential FPS

Personally i would recomend bigger the better for a monitor and if you are a true gamer then you may as well splash out on a decent Plasma.

hhhmm plasma's are pants are they not?

bad reputation, lcd's seem to be more recommended.

i think its due to the viewing angle

I wouldn't say either were pants, I would use a reasoned arguament (which i have hopefully done here). While LCD's are a bit better for computer use than a Plasma and using an LCD you dont get screen glare because of not having a piece of glass in front of the screen. A plasma if you want to play fast moving games the image will be so much smoother and better as fast moving images are not great on LCD's. I am a conference and event's technician ( i.e Sound Lighting Staging Set projection and all associated equipment including LCD Plasma etc) most people in this trade would probably agree with a Plasma is still way ahead of an LCD. Having personally experienced the new Panasonic 103" Plasma at the NEC recently i doubt you will find such a large image and so good which i dont thin LCD is up this standard of size and clarity. So mainly it is a matter of preference for the individual and what it is going to be used for. Also I see more plasma's being used with laptops on exhibition stands than LCD's. And maybe the most important fact in any case is to ensure the PC is running at the native resolution of the panel as runnig a higher or lower resolution isjust making it a pointless excercise. (thats my two cents anyway)
