Default Upgrading my graphics card ?

Well as standard it comes with
128MB ATI® Radeon™ HD 2400 Pro

but i wont to upgrade, in the options it cost 55 quid to upgrade to this
256MB ATI® Radeon™ HD 2600 XT

or 100 quid for this

256MB nVidia GeForce 8600GTS

are either of them good or a rip of ? i could not upgrade it and buy a card from somewhere else. I dont really play games though more for work enteratinment music and so on but i wont a fast computer.

Thanks

Ian

graphics cards mainly speed up games so you will want the cheapest for entertainment and music. they will provide a performance boost over onboard graphics because it takes the strain off the processor and ram.

Hi IS.

If you're not gaming at all then the lowest spec of the 3 (the 2400) will suffice as you'll only be using it for media. An integrated solution will suffice to be frank.

The prices, if you were purchasing any of the other two cards are bang in line with current retail cost's. But as an upgrade they are slightly overpriced (this isn't a Dell build is it by any chance?)

If you intend to game the card required will depend on your resolution. The 2400 should be ok at 1024x768. The 2600xt is fine at 1280x1024 and the GTS is also fine at 1280x1024, although you'll get more of the eye-candy resident in the detail settings with the GTS.

Any pci-e card will work as it's the same interface.

Some cards like the longer-pcb'd 8800GTX, GTS, X2900 won't physically fit in the case.

But if you do upgrade you'll need to check what amps and wattage the card needs and whether or not your psu can provide that power.
