I have recently aquired a second pc but have no room for another monitor. Is there some method, maybe some switching device to enable me to use them both on one monitor(Not at the same time obviously) but to change from one to the other quickly?

Try a KVM switch.

What outputs does the monitor have (DVI, D-sub..)?

What a fantastically quick reply many thanks. Unfortunately I have no idea what the monitor output is. I've looked all over it and can't find any info. It is a 19" HP L1906 if that's any help. Plus I don't know what a KVM switch is. I know, I know what's such a dummy doing with pc in the first place but there it is.

You monitor has a D-Sub connection.

A KVM Switch is a box which reveives a signal and splits it, vise versa. This looks about right.

That paticular KVM Switch accepts 2 inputs (your 2 PCs) and sends it through a cable to your monitor, as it is a switch you choose which input (PC) you want to view, there is however a few sconds of delay as it switches.

A KVM Switch is hardware related so no it won't make any difference whatsoever.

Xactly, I got the switch as you reccommended. It was so easy to install and it runs the mouse and keyboard as well as the monitor. I'm really chuffed. Many thanks for your help.
