I recently bought a VGA to RCA adapter to use my TV as a monitor for my laptop but I can't seem to get it to work. I have my laptop connected to the yellow video input on the TV.

I think the problem is that my TV has a refresh rate of 50hz but on my laptop I can't seem to get any lower that 60hz. I'm using ATI Catalyst Control Centre (v9.3) and getting VERY frustrated.

Sometimes when I flick between the AVs theres a flicker of what could be the screen, but nothing better than that. CCC is definitely picking up the TV I just can't seem to change the refresh rate.

Has anybody got any suggestions?

On my laptop I had to use "Fn" and "F5" together to toggle the displays between "laptop" , "TV" , "Both"

Have you tried enabling the second monitor (T.V) in the display propeties window.

Desktop Right Click --> Properties --> Displays --> Monitor '2' --> change resolution.

Hope it helps.
