I'm not sure how to describe this problem, hence not being able to find solutions using google or the search function. Just 'checkered tile'-like appearing. I'm using Windows 7 7100RC, was playing game [Savage2, fullscreen] and it just SUDDENLY happened. All of a sudden. I've tried system restore and it didn't work. I'm pretty sure its a video card problem, I tried disabling and enabling, uninstall and reinstall, updated drivers, windows updated... [only thing left to do is reseat it, but only if someone knows for absolute it will fix it]

So anyways....please refer to the images and see if you know anything about it.. (i've posted this question with pictures here)
Thanks.

Personally I would skip all those site's recommendations, boot into a Ubuntu LiveCD, and see if the problem exists there. This is probably the best way to differentiate hardware problems from software. If it is in fact the drivers, you won't see anything wrong on Ubuntu: if it's an overheat or other hardware failure, you sure will.

Only then would I start messing with device drivers. Maybe I'm biased as I'm a hardware kind of guy but that seems like a more logical first step as the pictures shown seem to indicate a possible problem with video memory.

Can you please give me a bit more information on Ubuntu?
So, drivers and video memory = software;
Video card = hardware.
Correct?

No, video memory going out would be a hardware issue.

Download and burn the Ubuntu LiveCD, stick it in the drive, restart, you'll get a boot menu, you can then boot into the OS from the disc and you can see whether you get those same issues.

I have yet to find a problem like that with tiling or graphics artifacts that is not hardware related.

Ah
Irrelevant question: Is video memory usually integrated with the video card?
Just wondering, have you seen something like this before? Or did your last sentence implied that its very likely to be a hardware problem? XD

I'll do the 'Ubuntu Task' tomorrow, bedtime for now, and inform you of the results for further assistance.
In Ubuntu - no problems = software problem; problems persisting = hardware problem, Correct?

Thanks.

I've seen something like this - in fact, it was my own card with a video memory issue. And yeah, it's on the video card.

Your analysis is correct, see what that comes up with and go from there.

Replaced video card and all good now, though I didn't get to try Ubuntu. Thanks a bunch anyways =]
