I have a problem (that i can see now is a normal problem with this monitor :O) that my screen aint starting up normal. i get a green led thats blinking and then it goes orange.

ive had this for a LOOONG time and since i dont like to talk to people on phone and viewsonic havnt answered my 200 emails i havnt got this fixed within warranty time, so i thought i should fix it myself.

Thats where my problem comes.. how the hell do i get it open :O ive been trying to get away as many screws as i can but i cant open it. the ones left is the 4 that holds the "foot" onto the screen itself. i dont wanna break the plastic covers on the foot and they seem to be sitting hard.

So can any1 tell me how i can pop it open without breaking anything? :)

Sounds like the base unit is not putting out a signal rather than a faulty monitor, it's fairly common, more-so than a faulty monitor. Have you tried the monitor on another machine to confirm?

yeap the monitor has been tested on 3 PCs and same error on all of them. and im also using another monitor on the same computer right now using the same output as the VX922 used and its working fine.

Ive read (on this forum) that Thingie2 had the exact same error and all he had to do was switch out some capacitator in the monitor and it was working fine again after that.

thats why i was going to check if i had the same problem so i could easily fix it myself :) but i cant get it open without bending and stuff so thats why i asked if some1 that has done it could make a quick guide so i dont forget anything thats holding on to it so that i break something.

Ah, OK, that confirms it pretty conclusively.

I've never really got involved in component level repair so ill have to tag out.

Good luck.

ok after some bending i managed to pop it open, but all i can see is one.. dont know the name in english :/ but just a piece of wire going from one spot to another.. that has been warm (small burn marks arund the solding).

cant see any other place where it has been burned on the 3 circuit bords thats in the little "box" on the back. havnt dared to take out the whole screen to check there in case i mess something up totally by doing so :P

where were the capactitators that was burned to you if you had the same problem? ive read that most people had like 4-6 capacitators that was burned :S
