Default Watching TV on PC.

Reet, this area is one that I know practically nothing about.

Basically I have cable tv which runs to my tv. Then I have an 8800GTS GFX card which handles my pc graphics, linked to a 19" tft. My pc and tv are by no means connected.

I'm looking to get an HD LCD TV/Monitor to replace my current 19" tft, to be used mainly for gaming, although seen as though it is HD I would also like to watch the occasional HD movies offered by my cable company through the screen also.

How would I go about doing this? Are the pc / tv input connected straight to the monitor and the monitor then decides which one to view? Or does my tv go into my gfx card first (providing it supports anything it needs to support) and then from my card to my monitor?

The monitor I've seen and will probably be using (unless someone offers a cheaper better alternative) is this one

My graphics card is the BFG 8800GTS OC2 320MB edition.

This is a total guess on my part as I am not 100% sure on HD but providing you have a HD cable box you could connect the box directly to the monitor if it is a HD TV/Monitor via a hdmi cable and your computer would connect through a vga port on the back of the TV.
