hello,

my monitor (hyundai q995) is on it's way out-screen going black at random times) i think i need to replace.

what are the best monitors out there?
i would like minimum of 22 inch screen and definitely flat screen (not crt), i am done with losing so much space on my desk.

i'd rather not think about my budget yet (won't be spending silly money, prob a couple hundred but would like to know what options there are) as i want an idea of what is the best bang for buck and what to avoid (i will definitely not buy a hyundai monitor again).

my friend tell me to get an hd tv instead and run my pc through that but i am not convinced, what would the pro's and cons of this be?

my current gpu is not amazing (6600gt) but if i buy a new monitor i would hope it would last me a while (i will upgrade my graphics card later) so while i may not be gaming that much now i would like a monitor which will be good for that when i do.

nice one thanks

22" and over for $200 is not really possible.

You can get a 19" for $150-170 though.

Ah, right. Didn't check the country. :)

Hanns·G HG-281DPB is good, ViewSonic VG2230wm is good (but only 22"). If you want over 22" that's not these, you might as well buy a HDTV.

would an hd tv be as good as a quality monitor, does anybody know the pro's and cons of using one instead of a monitor and would it be easy to set up?

There isn't a 22" screen that I, personally, can wholeheartedly recommend but for a 20" it would be the Samsung 206bw. A simply superb monitor; no ghosting (gaming/fast movie scenes), high colour gamut allowing for nice rendering of dark colour shades, decent brightness and contrast ratio's. It's also well built and has subtle aesthetics.

It's exactly the same resolution as a 22" (1680x1050) just with a smaller screen, meaning the pixels are that bit smaller which helps with, among other things, aliasing. It can also be had for around £170 now.

Also, Cewy mentioned Dell. I second that. Never seen a bad monitor from Dell yet.

Considering the card you have I wouldn't recommend getting a screen above 1680x1050. And you may have to scale the image anyway when gaming. But that depends on the game you're playing.
