are there any particular 24 inch monitors you would recommend if i decide to one one?

Dell 2408 (Cewy has one and there's a thread with pics somewhere) or the Dell 2407. It's been usurped by the 2408 but is still a fantastic monitor and should be quite a bit cheaper with the new model being released. Various other UK sites sell Dell Monitors, just have a nosey around.

There's also Samsung's 244T. I had one for a while before selling it as I'm saving for it's replacement; the imaginatively named 245T. The 244T has quite simply the second best screen I've seen. The 245T has the first. But these two are both rather expensive. Figure £750 for the 245 and around (now) £600 for the 244.

If you want to go a bit cheaper there's the Samsung 245B (which I have, there's another thread around here somewhere with pics) which has a cheaper panel than the 244T but, for the money (around £300), it's not a false economy.

I always look at bang-for-buck hence the recommendations above. But regardless I don't think you'll be disappointed with any of them.
