What's the safest way to clean an LCD monitor screen?

I was eating at my computer and then I coughed. Now there's extra residue there.

Can I just use water, or what?

Thanks!

I read on another thread that rubbing alcohol with a soft cloth is okay, so I did that. It seems to have done the trick, so I hope it was safe to do.=)

Alcohol? I would avoid that, as well as petrol, white spirit etc.

I use baby wipes, very good at cleaning, cheap and non-toxic.

Somebody gave me a pack of
these these
and they are very good.
They contain 12 x wet and 12 x dry sachets ... very good at getting finger marks off (non alchohol) non streak and anti-staic.
