I just got a new Samsung SyncMaster P2250 (21.5" 16:9), it has a 2ms response time, a dynamic contrast of 50000:1 - but I'm only seemingly able to get 60 hertz out of it. Apparently some of the older Samsungs were running at 120hz - but only had response times of 5ms. It does seem fairly smooth, so I'm wondering if it has something new in-built that gives better picture while running at a lower refresh rate.
Is this the best monitor I can get or is there something better? Particularly with gaming performance in mind.

One other thing, what's the difference between analog and digital input. It has two cable ports, one DVI and the other RGB. When I have both plugged in, it runs on analog and seems to give smoother picture than if I have only the DVI in and it's on digital.

If someone could enlighten me it would be much appreciated, thanks.

120hz LCDs are pretty expensive nowadays, I can't imagine a 21.5" monitor at 120hz. Nonetheless 120hz is hardly necessary, it's more like a expensive feature. 60hz is more than fine.

Digital should always be "smoother" than analog because it is a "perfect" input, there is no reason to plug them both in, use one or the other.

I experimented a little in COD4 using Xfire to gauge my frame rates and i definately noticed a difference between an average input of 60hz vs. 90hz, so there must be something that the monitor does to smoothen things. I'd still really like to know what though. ~.^

Alright thanks, I might play around with the cables a bit more. It does show though in the quick setup guide that both input cables should be plugged in. When I was running in digital it suggested the optimum was analog so, I'm really not sure. Wondering if it could be something to do with the graphics card. I'm currently running only a GeForce 9500GT.

EDIT: It doesn't actually say anywhere that it's only a 60hz monitor, that's just the highest it seems I'm able to manually select.
