I am looking at now creating a Media Centre to use in my living room. Nonetheless, I don't want a bulky computer sitting next to my TV making a lot of noise with the fans inside etc... I've been Googling wireless monitors but have only come across one which will set me back $995 (or approx £500 in GBP). I am just wondering if there is another way around this apart from a wired connection form the media centre to the television? Can you modify a DVD player / Sky box to accept a wireless signal and this can then be passed to the TV?

| It depends on exactly what you want to achieve and the amount you want to pay.

You can buy a simple HDD Media Player that connects to your PC via USB and allows you to play MP3s, AVIs, JPGs etc. on your TV, through a SCART socket. This device is simply loaded up from the PC and moved to the TV. These devices are fairly cheap, but not perfect. Or the other method is a Wireless Media Player, more expensive, a little harder to set up (requires Wireless Router). This unit allows you to access the files on the PC. There are hundreds of different models around, so you will only get opinions here, it's best to do a bit of Googling, read some reviews and make your own mind up ![]() Here are a few simple models to give you some idea : http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?...&ForceUpdate=Y http://www.broadbandbuyer.co.uk/Shop...ProductID=2432 My System: Home Build

Thanks Phil. I am basically looking for a PC running Windows XP Media Centre; this PC will be located upstairs. I want to be able to access the Media Centre from my Television downstairs and run movies, music, access pictures and record live TV on the Media Centre. I don't really want to connect it with wires (given that the TV will be downstairs and the computer upstairs) and so, this is why I was looking for some sort of wireless connectors between a PC and television. I do already have a wireless network running at home and so, wondering if this is possible to somehow get the TV to wirelessly communicate with the computer

To be honest, I am not a lover of Windows Media Centre, so I am not very familiar with it. I believe the third party Hardware Wireless Media Players offer far more flexibility and are not restricted to any software .... i.e. they simply access the HDD on the remote PC and can be used on any PC with an OS, that supports a wireless Network. I'm not sure if you have used Windows Media Centre already, but you might be better off reading some independant reviews, before making your mind up ..... I wont say any more than that ![]() As always .... do some Googling and read some reviews, whichever route you take .

Could be a good excuse for a Xbox 360 since you can use it as a extender. Quite expensive though if thts all youd use it for!
