 Would the 8800 gts/gt be a solid upgrade?

Hello, recently my 8600GT crashed and im using my friends 8400GS, its not an awful card but i do notice lag and some graphic lag, was wondering if the 8800 gts/gt would be a solid upgrade? I cant upgrade my psu yet and the cards say they need 400 min. ...

Hello, recently my 8600GT crashed and im using my friends 8400GS, its not an awful card but i do notice lag and some graphic lag, was wondering if the 8800 gts/gt would be a solid upgrade? I cant upgrade my psu yet and the cards say they need 400 min. psu but i ran my 8600GT on what i have no and it was fine. and the 9400 i dont even want to mess with i think i will need a new psu for that.
