Default 2GB Ultra DDR2 Shows up as 1GB

Hello

I have an ASUS P5VDC-MX motherboard. It has 2 DDR1 and 2 DDR2 slots on it.
Below are some links for the specifications:
Official Site: Link
Other (Lists Max RAM Capacity): Link

Until recently I had 2 512mb DDR1 sticks in my 2 DDR1 slots. I recently purchased 2 sticks of (supposedly) ULTRA 1024mb PC4200 533mhz DDR2 from tigerdirect.com, here is the item link: Link

As soon as I booted my computer up I noticed that the bios listed my total system ram as 1024mb. I loaded WinXP and under system properties it says 1.00GB. I ran Belarc Advisor and it says: Slot 'DIMM0' has 512 MB (serial number SerNum0) Slot 'DIMM1' has 512 MB

Another odd thing about this is that the sticker on each stick reads: Ultra Ddr2 2048mb Pc4200 533mhz (2 X 1024mb). That same description is on the outside of the package they came in.

Looking at each stick, it appears that they are 2GB each, even though the package says 2GB in bold letter on it, along with the "Ultra Ddr2 2048mb Pc4200 533mhz (2 X 1024mb)".

Am I missing a setting or something? I made sure to put them in the 2 DDR2 slots, since it would technically be impossible to put them into the DDR1 ones. EVery website Ive looked up the mobo specs on says it supports 2GB max.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh and also Windows seems to take FOREVER to load now. I have to wait about 2-4 minutes while the XP "scrollbar" is going for windows to load.

Are the DDR1 sticks still in? I think that you can't use DDR1 and DDR2 at the same time. Try removing the old ram and see what happens.

The sticks are one GB each. It just says 2 on them since they come bundled together as 2x1024.

If you didn't remove the DDR1 sticks do so.
Have you checked the BIOS? Maybe there is a setting of some sort to switch to DDR2?

Like mentioned above, you can only run DDR OR DDR2, remove the DDR sticks if you haven't already.

Next, try removing 1 stick of the DDR2 stuff, and see if anything changes, if nothing changes, put that stick back in and remove the other, does anything change? if either changes, try switching the sticks to the other DDR2 slot, and repeat. This is because it could be a faulty RAM stick, or a faulty RAM slot (this happened on my younger brothers motherboard)

The sticks will be 1GB each so when paired will feature a total of 2GB. As others have said you can't use DDR and DDR2 together so you will have to remove the old DDR RAM.
