hi guys,
ive put in an extra 2gb in my pc making it up to 4gb and so it should read 4096 but when i go in system it says ive only got 3.25gb (by the way im using Vista prem) but when i run cpuz it reads all of my ram saying ive got 4096

You need 64bit windows for more than 3.25gb.

when i start up my computer and the black screen comes up with writing about your ide devices and memory it says ive only got 3.4gb surely that should say 4096

32Bit Operating systems can only utilize 3.2GB of RAM were as 64Bit Operating systems can use 4Gb,
If you're running 1GBx4 or 2GB+1GBx2 take out a 1GB stick, If you're running 2GBx2 then you have no other option then to remove 2GB leaving you with the original 2GB of RAM.

I'm running 32bit Vista Ultimate with 4 x 1gb sticks and the system reports 3.25gb, exactly the same as you. This is correct, nothing to worry about.

No need to remove anything ..... as mentioned above, only 64bit Operating Ststems will see/use 4gb and above.

strange, I have 4gb ddr3 1800 in my 32 bit vista ultimate and it reads as 4gb.
