I have a P4 3gig HT. I also have a Geforce 8600GT/256mb using DVI out. I am trying to watch a Youtube video in HD. Its playing. BUT, It lags slightly, and is using almost ALL of my processor! WTF? When I play a 1080 movie in winamp or mediplayer, it doesnt us ethat much at all. 25-40%. I also have 2 gigs or ram, using about 300mb while watching youtube HD so I dont think its that.

Anyone know why is uses all my processor to run a youtube video? Is my P4 really that shitty?

Hi mate,

Yeah prob will be your cpu its getting old now. I run a e6750 core duo at 3.2 on stock cooler and my cpu usage never goes over 28% while watchin hd vids on you tube. You would be better upgrading just even to a pentium d 3.0ghz which is 2 pentium 4's stuck together really if you not got much cash. Hope this helps any!!!!

Try clearing out old codecs and installing the Combined Community Codec Pack. Should help or fix your issue.

yeah. normally it runs fine. If I watch 1080 movies I downloaded it plays them at 20-40%

its only when streaming HD on youtube I notice this.

If I am stream HD on ABC.com or something I dont think it uses that much either. More ram, tho. Like another 200 mb.
