Hello,
My father has got an Acer Aspire T180 computer with Sempron 3200+and only 512mb ram. The computer is painfully slow now and it's definitely time to do some upgrades. I have run Everest Home Edition however it doesn't really shed any light onto which motherboard the system has. I could open up the case and look however I have been in a motorbike accident and smashed my knee cap and I can't walk let alone take a computer to pieces. I would like to know which RAM would suit the system aswel as what CPU upgrades are possible? Thanks ;) Josh |

Stick a gig of RAM in it would make the world of difference. And it's pretty cheap.

512MB is pretty much the minimum just to run XP. I would also recommend posting in the virus forum and making sure the machine is clean, malware slows PCs down a lot and is not always obvious. My System: Hybr!d

Okay thanks, I believe this RAM would be suitable for the computer;
Link to site Do you know which one to go for though? PC2-4200 PC2-5300 PC2-6400 I suppose I might as well go for the PC2-6400 as RAM is backwards compatible I think, just wanted to check though. For the price of that RAM I might as well get 2GB which would make a massive difference. Do you not think a processor upgrade is necessary? Thanks |

You want the same type as you already have, faster RAM will only run as fast as your slowest stick. Unless you are buying ALL new, then get a matched pair of the fasted speed your motherboaard will support, try the acer site to find out.
Also better deals can be had here > http://www.dabs.com/category/compone...421-4294957152 There are no such things as Acer T180 specific RAM, it's all the same so you dont have to shop at a place that says they do the RAM for your exact make/model. Dabs are also cheaper for a brand name. |

I know there isn't specific RAM for Acer computers, I just found that site whilst searching and thought it was fairly cheap.
Looking on the site you linked I found this; Kingston Value Ram I believe 2GB of that will do fine, if you would like to confirm? :) Thanks for your help |
