OK thanks very much Dave. But can I still upgrade to a higher CPU thats 940 pin? Say to an Athlon 3800+ or summat like that? Anything thats AMD 940 pin I suppose? God! These b****y things confuse me aspecially at my age! LOL! Got confussed as it said in CPUID in Everest that the Platform ID is D3h (Socket AM2). That threw me.

Ignore the post I deleted, it's been a long day and the info was incorrect.

I still cannot find any info on the mobo you have, it would appear that you have AM2 but that is not to say dual core AM2s will work.

I'd call Acer.

Cheers! I had the same problem trying to find out anything about this damned motherboard! It seems like it just doesn't exist? Well, only to Acer anyway. Thanks again and will keep you posted as to what Acer say as and when I can phone them.

I see you're learning the downsides of buying branded.

Hi Dave. I am free for a week then back in again. I phoned Acer as per your suggestion. I don't think the left knows exactly wha the right is doing in that company? However, apparently, I can upgrade to 64bit (which I told him I had already but he wouldn't have it), dual core and he said something about CPU speed up to 52000 (didn't quite understand that bit as I passed out and had to phone them back)! LOL! The AM2 bit he was undecided about and said I had to phone Tech Supp as I was speaking to Parts as thats where Tech Supp sent me! Thats when I started getting really annoyed! So, all-in-all, it looks like I can upgrade (even to dual core) but still I could get no details about MOBO! He started spouting off the prices of Acer's dual core CPU's that I could buy from them, which is when I passed out again! B****y Hell! They are well expensive from Acer! Seen them much cheaper at Aria, Ebuyer etc. I could not get it through to the guy that I already had a 3400+ 64bit processor and never mind what is says on the label on the front! But he was adamant it was not 64bit and was only 3200+! I give up! Hehehe! Think I will admit myself back into hospital - today! LOL!
PS
I buy branded as they are cheap and all I can afford and dont know anyone who could put one together for me? My best mate who builds comps told me to get it as its less hassle that building one? Don't think I will listen to him again?
