Dual core is better. The difference between AMD and Intel in equally powerful processors is small. It's very much a case of pick your team and stand by them. The last time I built a computer I used an AMD but next time (if there is a next time) I plan to use Intel and see how I go with it.

The difference isn't going to be noticeable to you as a user, thats the main thing, any difference is purely scientific. We're talking things like .001 of a second

always go with Intel (pentium 4 or pentium 4 HT) great for multi tasking. I don't know much about pentium D but I believe it's like a P-4
