hi, i was thinking of getting an athlon x2 6000 but im not sure of the compatability with my motherboard. i know its the right socket etc but the motherboard's website says that one version of the 6000 is compatible and one isn't. it says that theres a 125W version that is incompatible and a 89w version that is compatable.
can someone plz tell me what this means and how am i supposed to know which version is which. heres the link to the compatability list http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?f...&cat3_no=#menu |

Spencer I don't know either but there is hope. I checked on one online store's site and they clearly listed both versions with the thermal power listed. Your 89W version seems to be OEM the manufacturer's code being ADA6000CZOEM

Hi spencer.
If you ordered the "EE" (Energy Efficient) version you'll be fine. It's based on 65nm technology meaning the switches are that much closer together so it needs less power to run, hence 89w. The other version of the 6000 is 90nm,needing 125w, as the switches are that much further apart. Hope you see this before you open the cpu so you can check. My apologies, first time I've seen the post.
