hi guys,

whats the fastest proc the amd or intel considering the amd is 3Ghz and the intel is 2.66Ghz, also when games come out and require a cpu thats 2.8Ghz will it be too fast for the intel one and ofcourse the amd will run it smoothly???

If this is for gaming just get a E8500.

2.8 ghz on a single core maybe. and to answer your original question, the i7 beat the phenom 2 by quite a large number. but the e8500 is better for gaming from the price/performance ratio. if you have loads of money to spend then i7 is great but e8500 is better for cost to performance.

i7 is a waste of money IMO
Having to buy overpriced DDR3 and so on
An i7 vs a q9550 both OC'd to 3.7 are equal in gaming
Like said above just get a E8500

well, i agree get a phenom its cheaper. but i also agree with E8500, in the end it all up to you. In long term the Phenom is better than the E8500 (since its a quad core).

That's not really true at all, and even if it was it doesn't make it a good purchase.
