Im thinking of buying additional RAM, maybe 2 gigs but I'm struggling to identify the type I should buy. My motherboard is MSI P4N SLI and I currently have 2 sticks of 512mb DDR2 SDRAM PC4300 266MHz.
If I buy new RAM does it have to match the existing RAM i.e be DDR2 PC4300 266MHz? is there a better alternative? Thanks! |

As far as i can remember the P4N supports ram upto a speed of 667mhz (pc5300). So it doesn't have to match the ram already installed.
But do know that if you install differing speeds of ram the motherboard will run all ram at the speed of the slowest dimm. I'd just get 2x1gb dimms of 667mhz, it's cheap nowadays.

Get the same as you already have.

If you have two spare slots get 2x 1GB. RAM likes to run in pairs at the same speed. My System: Hybr!d
