Hey Guys
you probably saw my last ps3 vs 9600gt post, but I've got another problem.
i can either get an AMD Athlon 6400+ X2 with a 9600gt or an AMD Athlon 6000+ X2 with a 9800gt, this will be mostly a gaming computer but also used for other things like movies and such.

5400+ is the best deal out there, but the 6000's probably a better pick. See if you can figure out a way to get a cheaper processor and a 4850.

Games are much more GPU dependent, so, the slight reduction in CPU power won't make too much difference, but the large increase in GPU performance will.

Personally I agree with Carbon, since you choice an AMD cpu, I would say 5000+B/E is the best bang for the buck! But since these are getting replace by 5400+ which are basically the same thing. (OC to 3.1-3.2 for most people). I would go for 5400+B/E.
OC a B/E processor is way easy, somehow I dont even think its should be called"OC" anymore. So yeah, if i were you, I would go with 5400+B/E, and OC it to 3.1Ghz, which pretty is the same as the new 6000+ with 1mb cache. Theres no need to go 6000+ or 6400+ , they are relatively expensive($100+) and use more power consumption and hard to OC. Don't get trick by the numbers, even from 6400+ to 5000+ the actaul performance difference is not that huge!
