| hi, i jus recently bought a used athlon xp 2600+ T-Bred B... now i was hoping it should work on my gigabyte GA-7zx-1 rev1.0 motherboard at 1600mhz (16x100*) since it doesnt support 133mhz fsb... now in the boot up... it shows as athlon xp 1100 and in *My Computer* properties it also shows as xp 1100mhz but the multiplier should be 16x... Now in CPU-Z it shows as a duron Applebred core with 11x multiplier and the l2 cache is only 64kb instead of 256kb... i might have screwed up the processor now because i tried cutting the L3 bridges since my understanding was that the multiplier on the chip was 11x.... i changed it to 16x and now its even lower than it was before at 10x so pretty much im very annoyed and frustrated with this athlon xp... i also tried the wire trick by putting in thin wires in the cpu to work the multiplier but that jus made identifying the processor longer can anyone help me out on getting the multi at 16x n the cache to 256kb.. thanks guys for anything... |

| Not to insult you but are you absolutely sure you haven't been stiffed by the vendor? It could simply have been quoted as an Athlon when infact it is a Duron.

| well i got it off ebay for 13 dollors and the stepping code on mine wasnt listed in CPU World so it could possibly be a duron but why would it still post as a Athlon XP in start up?? even if it is still a duron can anyone help me get the 11x multiplier back which no duron ever had by my knowledge... on the chip it was AMD Athlon (TM) AXDA2600DKV3C F3563335106628 JIUHB 0337MPMW (r) (c) 1999 AMD i think the package number is 27648. duron?? or athlon xp?? |
