nothing wrong with AMD!
I am an intel man but AMD arent far behind intel these days. Their Phenoms are creepy up intel's tail...0.1ghz at a time haha.
Overclocker wise AMD arent spectacular...but they got what you need in a system :) i was considering buying an FX-74 before i got the e8400

That's the problem here. I used to be an AMD man as well but recently made the switch back to Intel. Not because of the fact that Intel is now the better processor to have but rather because since AMD merged with ATI, they turned into a right buch of... erm... well... I think you're catching my drift are you?

I mean, most budget laptops got an ATI Xpress200M graphics chip in it (well at least the ones you wanted to buy up until a few months ago), Still ATI decided to give the whole Linux community the finger by not releasing any propper Linux drivers for that card. Sure you can find some on the net but try and install them... And even though if you manage to get them to work (at least to the point where your system claims it got an ATI GPU) 3D is still rendered in software. It was infuriating quite a fair bit of people.

Second of all, when I was looking for a new AMD Mobile processor for my sisters laptop, there were only a few places in the UK where they were selling them, but all were out of stock. I called up 3 of them and they told me they weren't even sure if they would get any more. Sure, I found about 500 of those CPU's on US sites but most of them (if not all) are not shipping to the UK. If AMD is only interested in distributing in the US then they can stuff their products where the sun never shines and stay out of my back yard... (No offence to any of our US guests or members though).

Anyway gaza14, no offence in me claiming a system with 168pin SDRAM is classified as "industial archaeology"... Didn't mean it that way. I still got a Sinclair ZX81, a Sinclair Spectrum 128 and a Commodore 64 running at home for Gods sake. Most mobile phones nowadays have more processing power then tose three put together

Cheers:
Chris
