Hi all,
Earlier on I tried to use Q-Flash (the Gigabyte utility for flashing BIOS) to flash the BIOS on my GA-8ID533 mobo. All seemed to go well until I came to reboot. Now it lists the BIOS as one for GA-8IE2004P and I have an unbootable system. What I get is the screen where POST would normally be, but all it shows is details of the incorrect BIOS and the Processor (a P4). It doesn't show any of the attached drives etc. I can't understand where this went wrong - the program correctly identified my mobo and revision, and gave me only one choice (the right board)..? Anyway, before anyone says "well, shouldn't have been flashing the BIOS unless you had to" I needed the booting from USB support introduced in rev. F4 Am I right in thinking this is going to require a new board/be sent away for repair? |

No good, the BIOS doesn't think that anythings attached to it...the repair people I sent it to also said that it's a new mobo job.

It was suggested to get a replacement BIOS chip, but given the age of the computer (~7 years old) it's not worth it, and starting afresh is better.
